4. “A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.”

5. “End of the road. Nothing to do, and no hope of things getting better.”

6. “Sitting on thistles doesn’t do them any good. Take all the life out of them.”

7. “One can’t complain. I have my friends. Someone spoke to me only yesterday.”

8. “You don’t always want to be miserable on my birthday, do you?”

9. “There are those who will wish you good morning. If it is a good morning, which I doubt.”

10. “Don’t blame me if it rains.”

11. “The nicest thing about the rain is that it always stops. Eventually.”

12. “They’re funny things, accidents. You never have them till you’re having them.”

13. “Wish I could say yes, but I can’t.”

15. “It’s , still. And freezing. However, we haven’t had an earthquake lately.”

18. “It’s all for naught.”

19. “They made me catch a cold I caught.”

20. “The sky has finally fallen. Always knew it would.”

21. “Yup, I know how that feels.”

22. “Never a cloud, I always say.”

23. “It’s the only cloud in the . And it’s drizzling. Right on me. Somehow, I am not surprised.”

25. “Not much of a house, just right for a not much of a donkey.”

26. “Bouncy or coffy, it’s all the same at the bottom of the river.”

27. “Just as I thought, not better from this side.”

28. “Waiting to say hello—I can’t get the hang of it.”

29. “I’m not fun enough to be invited.”

30. “I’m telling you. People come and go in this forest, and they say, ‘It’s only Eeyore, so it doesn’t count.’”

31. “I was so upset, I forgot to be happy.”

32. “People who don’t think probably don’t have brains; rather, they have grey fluff that’s blown into their heads by mistake.”

33. “If the person you are talking to doesn’t appear to be listening, be patient.”

34. “No, but I sure do like this new tail.”

35. “Thanks for noticing me.”

36. “We can’t all, and some of us don’t. That’s all there is to it.”

37. “Taking people by surprise—a very unpleasant habit. I don’t mind Tigger being in the forest.”

38. “Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.”

39. “W-O-L. That spells ‘owl.’”

40. “And many happy returns to you, Pooh Bear.”

42. “Could you ask your friend to do his exercises somewhere else?”

43. “Nobody tells me. Nobody keeps me informed. I make it 17 days come Friday since anybody spoke to me.”

44. “I never get my hopes up so I never get let down.”

45. “Don’t bustle me. Don’t ‘now-then’ me.”

46. “I’m not asking anybody, I’m just telling everybody.”

47. “That’s what would be so interesting, Pooh. Not being quite sure till afterward.”

48. “I’ll give you three guesses, Rabbit. Digging holes in the ground? Wrong. Leaping from branch to branch of a young oak tree? Wrong. Waiting for somebody to help me out of the river? Right. Give Rabbit time, and he’ll always get the answer.”

49. “Everybody crowds around in . There’s no space. I never saw a more spreading lot of animals in my life and in all the wrong places.”

51. “Might take a day or two, but I’ll find a new one.”

52. “After all, what are birthdays? Here today and gone tomorrow.”

64. “Use caution when standing by the river bank minding your own business. You might get bounced into the water.”

65. “No need to bother on my account.”

66. “This writing business—pencils and what-not. Overrated, if you ask me. Silly stuff. Nothing in it.”

67. “The fact is this is more difficult than I thought.”

68. “They walk to and fro saying, ‘Ha ha!’ But do they know anything about ‘A’?”

69. “Don’t worry about me. Go and enjoy yourself. I’ll stay here and be miserable.”
